Consultation: Blaby District New Local Plan (Issues & Options)

Regulation 18 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) Regulations 2012

Blaby District Council is seeking to review and update its Local Plan. As part of the early stages of plan preparation, the Council is seeking views on the 'Issues & Options' that should be addressed and what the plan ought to contain.

The New Local Plan will eventually update and replace the current Local Plan which comprises of the Blaby District Local Plan (Core Strategy) (2013) and the Blaby District Local Plan (Delivery) DPD (2019).

The New Local Plan (Issues & Options) is the first consultation stage of the plan. Comments received as part of the consultation will help to inform what future versions of the plan should contain. Further evidence will be gathered on key issues (such as transport, environment, economy and population) as the plan progresses.

The Local Plan is being fully reviewed. At this stage the Issues & Options paper will consider:

  • The overall need for housing, employment and other forms of development;
  • The 'strategic approach' to locating new development;
  • The timeframe for planning new development and associated infrastructure;
  • Development Management policy areas, and;
  • Any other relevant matters identified as part of this consultation.

The New Local Plan will be prepared in accordance with the requirements of Planning Law and Regulations. In accordance with Regulation 18 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) Regulations 2012, this letter is to notify you that Blaby District Council proposes to prepare a New Local Plan and to invite you to make representations to Blaby District Council about what the Plan ought to contain.

The consultation will run for 12 weeks until 30th September 2019. Copies of the documents are on the Council's website www.blaby.gov.uk/new-local-plan. Hard copies are available for inspection at the Council Offices (Desford Road, Narborough) and at all libraries within the district (during normal opening hours).
